Adventures with g law (grandmother law)
If you asked John and Emily if I jumped up and down when I found out I was going to be a grandmother...well their answer would be "no she did not jump". But as the lads have gotten older I have "jumped" into this grandmother thing quite well. See I love an adventure and well it doesn't take much of anything in life to be an adventure to me. I so well remember Granny (Grandmother Resau) who lived with us, would on occasion take the Greyhound Bus from Elkridge to Baltimore and sometimes, if we had been good and probably a lot more reasons than I care to hear about, my sister Becky and I would get to go with her. It was always an exciting trip. Usually mom would ride us to the bus stop/station and we would get tickets. Then we would wait for the bus. I have never waited well for anything and it certainly would be evident by the time we handed the bus driver our tickets. Mine was always crumbled, bent, usually lost once or twice and for sure dropped on the ground. Becky's was always perfect. The trip always went this way. (Need I say more?) The bus always went the same way but I was always amazed at noticing something new...some building, some monument and then we would be in Baltimore. There were four dept stores on four corners and well you shopped all four stores and a few dept stores along the way...up and down elevators...into fabric departments and house wares. One time we saw Babes in Toyland in the balcony of a movie theatre and once we went to Enoch Pratt Free Library. I could have been abandoned there. I remember thinking all the books I would ever need to read were in Baltimore City and mad that we didn't live in Baltimore City so I could use that library. Needless to say, I have all cherished these adventures and so it has been with much glee this past year that I've had adventure Saturdays with the grandsons. These are just some of our good times. Thank you Granny...the spirit lives on.
